As an expert in rejection Charlie thought advertising would be the perfect fit. Unbelievably he was accepted. Over the past 20 years Charlie has been producing award-winning work for some of the world’s better-known brands and agencies, including his own.
As Creative Director and Founder of JimJam Ideas (2012-Present) Charlie’s roles vary from strategy, creative direction, writing and art direction through to making coffee, cleaning the kitchen and putting out the rubbish. During that time he has won competitive pitches and creatively led accounts such as Tourism Tasmania, Australian National Maritime Museum, Infiniti Cars, Destination NSW, Flinders Island Tourism, and AHM - Medibank Private.
Most notably his work on Tourism Tasmania has led to a 70% increase in visitation, a second airport, back to back contracts and numerous awards such as 2019 Mumbrella Travel agency of the year.
Previously, at DDB, M&C Saatchi and Monkeys, Charlie worked on numerous accounts such as Qantas, ANZ, British Airways, Tourism Australia, Gatorade, McDonalds, NRL, VW, Audi, Arnotts, NAPCAN, News Limited, UTS, Foxtel and MBF.
Along the way he’s won every major local and international award on offer, including Cannes lions, D&AD, One Show pencils and numerous effie awards as well as creating the 17th most awarded ad in the world in 2008.
Charlie’s experience covers above the line, below the line, through the line, all the lines. Anything from big 360 brand campaigns, product launches and traditional media platforms to the latest in digital, social and experiential.
The diversity of working in multi-national agencies and running his own small shop for 8 years has bred a broad skillset. This ranges from solving tough strategic problems and uncovering human insights to producing innovative creative solutions and ultimately elevating brands to a new level.
He loves surfing, footy, all the arts and food.
